Subjects

The ACT Preparation Test checks you on subjects like English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science with an additional writing paper, which is optional. The weightage of questions across the different sections are as follows:

Time

The duration of the test is for 2 hours 55 minutes. Each section carries separate time limits. 45 minutes for English, 60 minutes for Math, 35 minutes each for Reading and Science. For those opting to write the additional section, the writing section has 40 minutes and the total duration of the test would be 3 hours 35 minutes.

Scoring

The ACT is scored on a scale from 1 to 36, with 26 being the highest score. Each of the sections/subjects are scored on the same scale from 1-36 and the average of scores for all 4 subjects are compiled to arrive at the final score of the student. There is no negative scoring for wrong answers, so attempting every question is the best option. Also, it is important to note that the marks of the optional writing paper are not taken into account while calculating the final score.

Registration & Dates

The ACT Test is held 7 times a year – February, April, June, July, September, October, and December. 

The registration for the ACT test begins at least 5 weeks before the exam date. The registration can be done online. There is a provision for late registration as well up to three weeks before the exam, for an additional fee.
